Ashtanga Yoga

Enjoy 8-week sessions that promote continuity and growth

Our yoga classes are structured around the Eight Limbs of Yoga and combine the movement of the body in each posture, or series of postures, with the flow of breath, culminating in a relaxation and meditation period at the end of each class.

Our classes are designed to deepen the understanding of the self, to develop a greater relationship with meditation and, ultimately, to cultivate a more pleasant and peaceful state of being, both in class and in every day life. Students are encouraged to register for eight-week sessions, allowing them to grow their practice both at the individual level together with their classmates.

Our Ashtanga Yoga classes are suitable for all experience levels and can be attended by anyone, regardless of age, body type, limitations or experience.

Restorative Yoga

At Sunshine Yoga Academy, our Restorative Yoga classes is a gentle practice with modified postures seated in a chair, allowing students to reap the many benefits of yoga, regardless of any physical condition, limited range of motion or other physical limitation. Students recovering from surgery or illness can also benefit from this practice as well as students simply looking to take a restorative break during the day’s busy working hours.

Restorative Yoga is a gentle, slow practice where the poses are held with support for longer periods of time to achieve a state of relaxation. Combining the benefits of chair yoga with restorative practices, students are able to enjoy a complete experience for body, breath and mind.

No previous experience is necessary and all students are welcome.

Meditation Classes

Our yoga classes have always included a meditation component but now, for the first time, Sunshine Yoga Academy is offering classes dedicated exclusively to the practice of meditation.

Our classes, which will include some discussion of yoga philosophy, mantras, mudras, meditation techniques as well as tips for establishing your own practice at home, are designed to deepen the understanding of the self, to develop a greater relationship with meditation and, ultimately, to cultivate a more pleasant and peaceful state of being, both in class and in every day life.  Students are encouraged to register for eight-week sessions, allowing them to grow their practice both at the individual level together with their fellow classmates.

Our meditation classes are suitable for all experience levels and can be attended by anyone, regardless of age, body type or experience. Join us and let us grow together.

Personalized Yoga Therapy

The International Association of Yoga Therapists defines Yoga Therapy as “the process of empowering individuals to progress towards improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings of yoga.”

Yoga Therapy helps us deal with physical ailments, finding mental and emotional balance and maintaining perfect health. At Sunshine Yoga, we use a variety of tools to help each individual or group to regain balance in all aspects of their lives. Yoga Therapy draws on the principles of Ayurveda and uses the practice of yoga postures in combination with breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques and meditation, to treat the whole person – body, mind and spirit – to ensure long term, lasting results.

At Sunshine Yoga, we offer individual appointments in which we analyze all aspects of the student’s physical and emotional constitution, and after an in depth analysis, we prepare a fully customized program specifically designed for each student, helping and guiding the students on the road to improving their overall state of health and well-being.

Yoga For Special Needs

Our Special Needs classes are designed to engage children and adults with disabilities, providing meaningful possibilities for growth and inclusion through the practice of yoga.

Based on the Eight Limbs of Yoga, our fun and entertaining classes will help students tap into their creativity, to practice focus and concentration and, ultimately, to relax and unwind from any daily challenges they may face. Ultimately, the continued practice of yoga will help help students thrive in all aspects of their lives.

Our Yoga for Special Needs classes are suitable for all experience levels and age groups and can be tailored to accommodate a variety group dynamics and needs.
